In order to comply with the Control of Pesticide Regulations and the Food and Environmental Protection Act, spray operators are required to obtain recognised certificates of competence.
These are issued by the National Proficiency Tests Council. A foundation module (PA1) must be taken before a module relating to the specific area of work being undertaken (i.e. handheld applicators - PA6)
Each course normally requires a minimum of three people and the examiner and instructor can travel to your depot. We can also arrange courses at our premesis in Oxfordshire if preferabe.
The PA1 examination is a computerised multiple choice exam and the PA6 is of a practical nature which requires operators to demonstrate safe and correct methods of calibration on the relevant equipment. These courses are suitable for operators using any hand held type sprayer, with a large variety of plant protection products.
Courses and tests are also available for vehicle mounted sprayers (PA2).
